Trees are one of the most prized landscaping features. Mature trees provide shade during warm summer days and add value to any property they grace.
Unfortunately, they also age or end up in places we may not want them. While tree removal might sound like a drastic decision for any tree, it can be the right thing for you and your other vegetation.
As the Tree Surgeon of Derbyshire, we frequently run into homeowners and business owners who either don’t know the signs it’s time to remove a tree or are unaware why it needs to be done. While tree pruning is good for maintenance, sometimes the only answer is to completely remove the tree.
Here’s how you can figure out whether you need to remove a tree from your yard.
The Tree is Dying
Dying trees are not only an eye sore, they’re also a serious hazard. But many folks don’t know the signs their tree is dying. Chipped, peeling bark, dead hanging branches at the crown of the tree, fine twigs with no buds at the end of the branch, and decaying fungi at the base of the trunk are sure signs your tree is dying and it’s time for removal.
Proximity to Buildings/Sidewalks
Another issue that could cause a removal to be needed is the position of your tree. As trees age, their roots guide their position. Unfortunately, this could mean they start leaning towards your home or overcrowding pedestrian areas. If the tree has started leaning in these directions, it’s time to remove it.
Major Storm Damage
This is more obvious, but if a storm comes through your property and knocks down branches and leaves the tree vulnerable to the next windy storm, it’s time to remove it. Again, this creates a hazardous situation that could cause debris to head into your home during the next storm.
The good news is that you can call the tree surgeons Derbyshire when it’s time to remove a tree from your yard. We can even come to your home and provide a consultation if you’re unsure what trees need to be removed.
